These figures are based on a role-playing game. They are not grounded in any reality at all.

I respectfully beg to differ; if you read the blurb on the first release, you’ll see these are based off GROM Polish SF, a genuine special forces unit, and not a role playing game. To quote the author, “The figure is inspired by an assault operator from one of the GROM's combat teams, fighting in Afghanistan, 2013. It is equipped with anit-tank grenade launcher AT-4, assualt rifle HK416A3 with QD silencer, as well as Glock 17 pistol and OPS-CORE helmet with AN/PVS-15 night-vision goggles. The figure consists of 8 parts and presents the posture in action. This is the first figure in 1/35 made by GROM ART but it is planned to create few more to make it possible to complete the whole combat section.”

There was something in the first release about these being for a role-playing game. If not, great.

Many of the Polish SOF items are American-made or purchased to this figure can represent many NATO units. I would use this figure for oil derrick or ship boardings, or to represent some videogame such as "Call of Duty, Modern Warfare." It's welcome...heck, practically anything resin kit related is welcome in a time of COVID and closing local hobby stores. I'm glad that there are still sculptors out there keeping the flame alive and feeding the model market with new releases.

It's a cool figure for sure, unique and unusual, however I'd be interested to see how the GROM operated underwater in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has some huge lakes, and dams, where an underwater / waterborne operation would not be entirely unheard of. Even in the “sandbox”.

Great article on GROM Art, LINK, lays out their plans for future figures, too.
