by: Engin Kayral [ GRAYWOLF ]

BRAVO-6 added another unique two-figure kit to US Infantry Vietnam Rumble in Jungle series. This time US Soldiers are in serious trouble asking for an air attack to their own location. Kit is named as “Broken Arrow” which is a Vietnam era military code for a call for close air support by all available forces for a military unit on the ground in grave danger of being overrun.

The kit comes well packed in standard light brown cardboard box . The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figures which can serve as a painting guide. On the other side of the box; e-mail and web address of the company are noted.
The main parts-bodies and other parts of the figures like arms, weapons and accessories are seperately inserted in small plastic zip-lock bags to avoid unexpected damages during transfer.

Both of the figures are sculpted by Vladimir Demchenko and come in medium grey resin parts. Figure bodies will need some work to remove from large casting blocks as in all figures lying on the ground. Other parts can be easily removed from blocks but you should be careful on some fragile parts, especially on the muzzles of rifles and backpack frames not to damage them. The resin quality is good and details are crisp. No air bubbles or casting mistakes on the figures. No cleanwork will be needed as you get rid of the casting blocks.

Figure #1 - Officer
Posed to fire his pistol, sitting on the ground, figure comes in 12 parts. The main part - full body with head shows nice facial details,hair and facial expression reflecting his stress. He wears tropical jungle jacket with two chest and two waist pockets - all with flap covers, jungle trousers with two side pockets and canvas-leather combined Vibram jungle boots. Trotters are inserted into the boots. He carries LCE ( Load Carrying Equipment) which consists of Pistol belt and LC II H Suspenders with two M-16 ammo pouch and a Two pocket magazine pouch for Colt pistol. He has a M3 holster on the left armpit.

  • A XM-177E2 with a collapsible stock,extended flash hider and twenty round magazine is given to put next to the figure.

    Figure #2 - RTO
    Communicating in prone position, figure comes in 13 parts. He wears the standard uniform of jungle jacket, trousers and boots as the first figure and carries the same LCE. Uniform details, suspenders and harness of backpack are well represented. M16 ammo pouches on both sides and a compass pouch on the right side are cast on the figure.
  • Head : Facial details, hair and talking pose with open mouth are all well defined on the figure.
  • Right arm : Posed to hold the handset on his ear. Cloth folds, upfolded sleeves and wrist watch are well defined.
  • Left arm : Posed to hold the rifle on the ground. He carries a watch on his wrist.
  • M16 rifle. Left hand is cast on the handguard.
  • Backpack : He carries a three-pocket tropical rucksack with metal frame. Over the rucksack, a AN/PRC-25 is attached to the frame. A bedroll, a handset pouch, 1 quart canteen inside M1956 E-tool cover, M16 canvas bandolier and a two pouch M18 Claymore mine bag are cast on the backpack. Note that you will need a scratch antenna for radio.

    Same sprue for personal gear is supplied twice inside the kit. Each sprue includes ;

  • M-1956 one quart canteen in canvas cover.
  • M7 bayonet in M8A1 scabbard - 2 pieces.
