Introduction

A new diorama accessory is now available from Mirror Models that will make for some diorama detail or part of a cargo load for a vehicle, a USA Air Compressor.

Review

This new accessory from Mirror Models looks to be a great detail items for a recovery or repair scene diorama. In the plastic package there are two sprues wrapped in bubble wrap, each an individual kit. Yes, there are two identical compressor included in the kit.

The plastic looks to be very well molded, with some fine parts and great detail. The small parts show great rib details. One small drawback I saw was the sprue gates are rather large and will be best served by removing the parts with a razor saw to prevent damaging the small parts.

Assembling the small accessory is very straight forward, starting with the tank. The tank halves go together well, but you will need to sand the locator pins down to attach the end piece. It should also be noted that when cutting the tank from the sprue, be careful not to sand on the locator marks on the top, like I did.

The rest of the build of this little “model” went very well, and as you can see, it builds up into a nice little, great looking air compressor. With a little extra work with some thin wire, you could build an excellent looking unit from this kit.

There are no decals included in the kit, but I am not sure what marking would appear on a compressor like this.

Conclusion

This is a great little kit from Mirror Models with which you can build up this air compressor, it builds up quickly and produces a great little item that can be used for stowage or detail in a diorama. I highly recommend this accessory kit.
SUMMARY

Good review. Not sure how one would use this in a diorama, but glad to have it "just in case."

F.Y.I. - this is the same gas powered air compressor that mounts on the rear of the Diamond T wrecker. This would be useable as a vehicle load item on a Deuce and a half (Red Ball Express) or in any vehicle being used as a maintainence truck.
