Introduction:

Laser Light Module 01 (LLM01) is an adaptive target acquisition module manufactured by Rheinmetall Defence. LLM01 combines multiple functions and capabilities into a single compact unit, including tactical flashlight, visible red laser sight, infrared pointer, and infrared illuminator. The laser light module can be attached to virtually any rifle or pistol via a metal integral quick release clamping adapter.

Almost all NATO countries use the LLM 01, as do the armed forces of various other nations. Thanks to its operational versatility, robust design and user-friendliness, the module is an excellent means of enhancing the effectiveness of small arms of all types.

Review:

Live Resin recently released number of different L85 variants in 1/35 scale, some of which are reviewed on Armorama (link). This review covers one of the most ubiquitous weapon accessories seen on L85A2s fitted with Picatinny rail system: LLM01 Element Advance Multi-Function Laser Light Module (LRE-35215).

The LLM01 set is packed in a standard Live Resin way with the parts secured in a zip-lock bag and additionally protected between hard cardboard backing. The box art on the front shows the contents of the set, while the one on the back displays the laser module attached to the L85A2. The zip-lock bag contains ten LLM01s, all supplied on a long carrier block. The tiny parts are molded in grey resin and I found no casting imperfections whatsoever, with the resin featuring sharp details impressively delivered in scale.

The LLM01 is a compact unit (86 x 46 x 58 mm) equipped with a powerful white light lamp, an infrared light close-quarter illuminator and a red light/infrared light laser marker. The lasers are positioned above the white light lamp head, with the rotary switch for selecting the light source located on the left side of the unit. The selected light source is switched on via three programmable pushbuttons on the left, right and rear of the unit or the pushbutton on the trigger cable. The LLM01 also features a special integral adapter system with a quick-clamping device, for installing it on any small arm equipped with Picatinny rails, as well as many pistol rails.

The LLM01 is presented very realistically in this set. All the miniature knobs and buttons on this tiny piece are incredibly well defined. I tried attaching the device to L85A2 and it fits really well, and it should fit equally well to any weapon featuring Picatinny rail from Live Resin.

Conclusion:

This kit features the most widely used laser module on German G36 and British L85 assault rifles: Laser Light Module 01 (LLM01). The resin cast is perfect and features miniscule, but impressively sharp details. With 10 pieces included, this set presents an absolutely great value for money.

You wonder how did this addiction start? I was a kid when my dad broght home a 1/72 Concord airplane; we built it together as well as couple of other airplanes after that. This phase was just pure fun: glue, paint, decals in no particular order... everything was finished in a day or two. Then I disc...
