I received this for review a while back, but managed to break an arm, so the review went on hold. (Apologies, Matthias!)
The subject is a 10-litre aluminium water can that it seems were almost exclusively issued to the Luftwaffe, although in the way of all really useful kit they were "liberated" by other branches of service. Cans came in a skinny 5L size, a "backpack" 18L size (all of which Matho offers in resin), and of course the famous 20L "Jerrycan".
Inside the card-topped plastic pouch are two resin cans with pouring plugs that need to be cut off. The handle is moulded on, but it would be easy enough to cut it off and bend a new one from wire. Detail on the cap looks good, but you'll need a magnifier to appreciate it! I don't have any dimension info, but the size looks "right" when stood next to a 20L can.
Genuine preserved examples all appear to be dark yellow, with "Trinkwasser" and "10L" in white lettering. There are no decals, so you'll need to source them elsewhere.
These are very nice little water cans that will enhance any WWII German diorama.
Highs: Very nice lid details. Size and shape look accurate.Lows: Big pour plugs to remove. No markings or painting instructions.Verdict: Very nice water cans.
