US Infantry Weapons PE set

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

What you get

This set is comprised of 3 frets of photo-etch, 2 of which are coloured, the third and largest fret not so. Eduard put this set down as being for the Tamiya US Infantry weapons kit # 35121, but it seems it would be just as useful for any US WWII infantry weapons. The coloured fret holds mainly slings for rifles, and as said, comes pre-coloured, which for many people might be one of it's advantages, but personally, I'd prefer them to be uncoloured...especailly since the colours appear to be a bit 'off'. Some of the slings fro example, are coloured sort of 'pinkish'. It also means of course, that the weapons must be painted before attaching them, which might present more problems. Some of them do have nice stencilling on them though!

Included in the set, as said, are various rifle slings, together with their trigger guards, bolts and sights. 2 useful revolver holsters, plus straps, replacement barrel jacket for the Browning, various additions and replacement for a .50 cal and tripod. I must admit to being a little confused, as this set is one from the Eduard 'Zoom range, which I thought were intended as small, low cost sets for those people who did not require a full photo-etch update set.

It's undoubted that using this set will improve the look of these weapons when used, however, careful consideration would have to be given as to whether or not the price is a little too high for what's included in the set.

My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
