Manhole covers date back to ancient Rome, and are an integral part of urban sewers and power grids. The covers vary from cast iron to concrete, and have even figured in an urban legend about one being launched into space by a nuclear test (not literally true, though the cover was never found).

Matho Models has introduced several photo etch sets recently, including this one of eight manhole covers and three misc. cover plates.

Inside a Ziploc baggie is a single sheet of PE with four sets of two covers, plus three small misc. covers.

the review

This review will likely vie for the shortest ever published on Armorama. That's because these are manhole covers, folks: what you see is what you get.

Why are they good? Many kit dioramas and streets lack them, or else use simplified styrene versions (I'm thinking of MiniArt's otherwise excellent offerings). These covers will add additional detail (and realism) to any urban setting. If you're showing a street scene, you should probably add one of these to it.
