Theme of the latest products of Evolution Miniatures is World War II Soviet Soldiers at rest on 1943-45. Company released four kits depicting soldiers playing music, dancing, applausing and watching like celebrating a victory or end of war.

Second kit of the series EM-35133 includes a Soviet soldier dancing Russian folk dance Kalinka / Prisyadka and will make a good pair to his comrade, formerly reviewed EM-35132.

Figure comes in the new neat and small box of the company labeled with a photo of the figure painted by sculptor and painter Sergey Traviansky - Menelay. Sides and flaps of the box show general info, warnings about the kit and piracy by illegally recasting.

As in all Evolution figures, quality is admirable with clean and crisp detailed sculpt and flawless cast. No mistakes and no serious cleanwork, just seamline on the stock of machine gun needs sanding. It comes in 4 parts cast in grey resin. Parts are;

Body with head : Facial details and happy/smiling expression on the face are well defined. He wears a fur cap with long ear flaps named Ushanka. Fur texture, ear flaps tied up on the top and red star badge are nicely sculpted. His uniform consists of traditional Russian soldier’s shirt-tunic - Gymnastiorka M43 and khaki cotton half-breeches/trousers - Sharovari M35. Wrinkles, folds and reinforcement patches on the knees are well represented. Over his uniform, he wears a double breasted coat with two rows of three buttons each and two slit waist pockets with flap covers. It looks like a modified - cuff straps removed, lend-lease US Army M1943 Mackinaw Jeep Coat. Shoulder crossed strap of machine gun is sculpted on th chest. He carries standard issue belt on his waist; a three-pocket PPSh-41 Stick magazine pouch on the front left and a Canteen on the right back. As for the foot gear; he has black leather long boots. Details and folds of the clothing are all well defined.

Arms are posed to make a strong dance figure with hands on fist shape.

Figure carries a PPSh-41 with 35 round stick magazine.

conclusion

Figure is sculpted in a proper posture for the Kalinka dancing pose. Ease on assembly with 4 parts, classic Sergey’s extreme sculpt and high quality cast. It can be displayed with other figures of the series or can be a part of a bigger Stalingrad or Berlin invasion diorama.
