3D Printed Workable Tracks for Sd.Kfz. 250

Intro

Tracks are usually one of the most delicate parts of a model, as they are quite noticeable and a mistake here pops up immediately.

Often it requires to choose between the easiness of the vinyl ones and the realism of the resin/metal tracks. The former will look unrealistically tight and the latter need a good amount of work cleaning and assembling them.

Minor comes with a perfect solution, offering a set of tracks that do not require other effort than joining the ends, while they are workable and provide a realistic sag.

Description

The most noticeable feature of this product is that it comes ready to use and at the same time is workable. Thanks to the 3D printing process, it is possible to get them this way -traditional casting would not allow this type of product.

They are printed using a translucent material, and the detail is excellent, with no print lines or markings nor any warping.

The tracks come extended, between a rigid cardboard and a piece of foam so they are perfectly protected, although they can not be considered fragile.

At first they are a bit stiff, because of the wax used during printing process. After moving them a bit they become fully workable. In case needed they can be cleaned also with alcohol to remove all residues.

These tracks have been specifically developed for Dragon kits.

In Use

I have not had the chance to test them on a kit, as I did not have any at hand. However, considering they are exclusively for Dragon models and the precision of the 3D printing, the fit should have no issues. In fact, I have added a photo from their website showing that both the fit around the sprocket and the resulting sag look correct.

Mounting them just requires to link the ends and close the joint with the provided parts, one for each track.

Although you can not stretch them or treat them roughly, for the photos on this review I have and rolled them several times without any problem. At any time you feel they are fragile and may break, after some use you become confident and move them without much care. And they resist.

Conclusion

These tracks are the ideal solution thanks to their realism and easiness of use, as they just need to join the ends like vinyl and have the look of resin individual links.

Currently you can get also tracks for the Sd.Kfz. 10 and the Kettenkraftrad (both the usual ones and Winterketten)

Sometimes I go for specific and rare vehicles, of which only two or three photos are known so it takes me a lot of time to figure how everything w...
