Introduction

This is my second stab at a review, and second 1/24th scale figure; and I’m rather enamoured by it.

Review

The build of the figure is straightforward: helmet, head, torso, right arm with separate fingers, left arm with separate hand, and separate legs with boots attached. Added to this are a small number packs, pouches and accessories. Not many, but enough to make the figure look purposeful and well equipped.

There was minimal cleanup, with seam lines down the arms and legs, but nothing too onerous. The detail is average for a 1/24th scale injection moulded figure. It is sharp in places, and soft or missing in others. There are places where seams and creases fade out, and details run into each other. This can be rectified with painting. Or scribing if you really feel the need.

The Build

Construction was both straight forward and difficult. The component parts go together well, there was no filler needed at the major joins. And the figure stands unassisted, too. I did have difficulty when it came to adding the rifle to the hands. And this is something I’ve encountered with other figures in this pose where there is a multitude of parts, and the parts breakdown isn’t precise. Fitting the rifle to the right hand, the right arm to the right shoulder, the rifle to the left hand, the left hand to the left arm, the left arm to the left shoulder and aligning the head to look down the rifle, Or, in this instance, over the sights in the high ready position.

Completing the figure as it comes out of the box, the pose is off and looks awkward. Slight adjustments at the head and hands gives a more natural, and therefore pleasing, result. This also necessitated some filler at the neck and left hand where it meets the wrist. Nothing too dramatic, just be aware of this when making yours.

The uniform, helmet, and rifle are all current attire of SWAT units. The included painting guide is limited to green, but a quick search would confirm that the uniform can be camouflaged, or a solid, single colour or black, green, grey, blue, brown and shades thereof. There are no decals included in the kit, but they would be limited to blood type, call sign maybe, and unit identifier.

Conclusion

The figure works in nicely with ICM’s other SWAT offering, “Team Fighter #2”, and with a little work could build into a stack about to enter a room. This is a solid offering from ICM; the scale, detail, accuracy, and subject are all appealing, and I hope to see more of these in the future. Recommended.
