Fruit and Veg in Wooden Boxes

Introduction

Armorama recently covered news from a British resin manufacturer called Red Zebra, and earlier this week I received a number of items from their range including earlier releases. The items I have received are Fruit and Veg 1, Public Phones, Sports and Holdall Bags, IDF Bags and Equipment and 0.1mm Aluminium Foil. As indicated I am going to look at the Fruit and Veg 1 offering on this occasion.

Review

This is a resin offering from Red Zebra and arrives in a Ziploc bag with a card hanger with 10 resin parts loose inside, the package arrived in a cardboard tray with flip top lid that has ensured that the item arrived in perfect condition.

The 10 resin offerings in this set are all different and so could all be used at the same time if required without the eye seeing identical offerings. The pour plugs are connected to the base of the boxes and so hidden from view when finished with; I was also pleased to see that the pour plugs do not extend to the edges of the boxes and so making clean up easier. An examination of the offerings in this set reveals no concerns as regards moulding quality on the viewable surfaces.

The set from Red Zebra offers 4 different box sizes and so a nice mix of offerings. This offering is listed as Fruit and Veg 1, but if I am honest it is really a set of mixed vegetables rather than fruit; however I suppose some of the items could be portrayed as apples. The mix of contents as far as I am concerned is:
Potatoes
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Carrots
Pumpkin
Marrow
Corn on the cob
Leeks
Onions
Tomatoes
3 unidentified bottles (possibly wine)

As such this offering from Red Zebra does offer a great mix of items in the boxes. Looking at the contents of the boxes I was pleased to see undercuts present as this gives a very realistic look to the surface detail. The boxes themselves have a very nice yet subtle wood texture present that should be just enough to take a dark wash.

Conclusion

This is a very nice product from Red Zebra at a reasonable price of only £8, due to the current exchange rates it is a good time to purchase from British manufacturers. The contents are well made and look as they should, so with careful painting and the use of some wash the finished offerings should look very good. The products as they are laid out in the boxes look more like shopping orders than samples for sale and as such are of most use as stores in use by civilians, soldiers or vehicles. As this offering stands I am at a loss to come up with a low to the offering.
SUMMARY
Highs: A nice mix of produce in different sized containers that will look good in a number of 1/35th settings.
Lows: Nothing I can come up with.
Verdict: A great little set to have for adding life to a setting.
