Introduction

Having a wide range of dynamic posed U.S.M.C. figures to create Vietnam War urban conflict scenes especially for Tet Offensive, BRAVO-6 lately added two new two-figure kits to the series. The figures look very suitable and realistic for street fights when displayed next to a wall or as Vladi named them - Round the Corner.

First kit of the series B6-35302 includes a kneeling and a standing Marine with standard uniform and gear but unusal weapons.
Box & Parts

Kit comes well packed in standard BRAVO-6 light brown cardboard box labeled with a photo of the painted figures. Inside the box, body parts and accessories of both figures are inserted into four seperate transparent zip-lock bags.

The parts are represented with easy to remove casting blocks marked as A and B. This is helpful for assembly of the field gear of each figure. Casting quality is good and details are very crisp and sharp. There were no air bubbles, excess resin, any casting mistakes or seriously visible seamlines on the review samples. A few seamlines on the outer side of legs and arms will need a short cleanwork.
Review

Figures are sculpted by Vladimir Demchenko in 1/35 scale and come as a full body figure with seperate heads and arms. Some of the field gear are cast on the body part as some of them are served as seperate parts.

They both wear typical Vietnam War US tropical jungle uniform of jacket with two breast and two waist pockets - all with flap covers, trousers with two rear and two cargo pockets on both sides and canvas-leather combined boots with trotters inserted into the boots. Over the uniform, they have M1955 Flak Vest Pattern I for protection against small arms fire, shrapnel, and flying debris. Cloth folds and wrinkles on the uniform, pocket details, details of the flakvest like doron plates, zip front closure, elastic cartridge belt holder for attaching equipment and rifle guard over the right shoulder are all well defined.

Facial details like hair, eyes, nose and ears are well sculpted. Exhausted or stressed expressions on both faces are impressive. Unlike some other figures on market wearing helmets come with bald or half/cut heads, I like Vladi always sculpts hair which allows modeler to display the figure with no helmet.

MARINE - A
Kneeling with his right knee on the ground, his right arm is posed to raise on shoulder level giving a halt sign and left hand carries a rifle. Cloth folds on arms, wrist cuffs and buttons are well defined. Rifle cast with the left hand is an AK-47 or its Chinese version Type 56 commonly used during Vietnam War. It is easily recognized with its high front sights, large selector/safety switch on the right side and the long, curved banana magazine. Details of the rifle are very well defined but inside the trigger hole should be clean to open. Two pouch M18 Claymore bag and First aid kit pouch are cast on the backside of the figure.

MARINE - B
Posed standing and slightly leaning forward, his pose looks proper to Figure-A’s halt signal. Over his flakvest, he carries an old type USMC M1941 Suspenders. He has bedrolls on the backside and a big ammo pouch on the left. Arms posed to carry the rifle are sculpted with upfolded sleeves and a wrist watch added to left arm. Rifle is a 9 mm submachine gun Swedish K, a leftover from French forces and commonly used by US Special Forces during Vietnam War. Note that some correction may be needed on the barrel.

Some of the field gear are given on a sprue;
  • M1956 one quart canteen - 2 pieces
  • M1911A1 in leather holster
  • Folding stock of Swedish K SMG
  • Two M1 Helmet with Mitchell pattern camo canvas cover; one with LSA oil and C-ration matches attached to helmet band and other with cigarette pack, Zippo lighter, Chapstick - lipstick for sun burnt and insect repellant also called as Bugjuice attached to the helmet band

    Conclusion

Another nice and realistic posed two-figure kit sculpted in great details and cast in high quality. Unusal weapon choices. It can be displayed alone, with Round the Corner-2 or can be added to scenes with other BRAVO-6 Tet ’68 Marines figures.

  • SUMMARY
Highs: Usual BRAVO-6 trio of nice poses, sculpt and cast. Interesting weapon choices.
Lows: Trigger holes should be clean.
Verdict: Again two great figures to add realism to Vietnam War dioramas.

Nice review Engin. And a nice set of figures. I really like the fact that are holding the AK-47 and the Swedish K. Makes for an interesting set. Thank you, Randy
