Introduction

Country Station is a laser-cut 1/87 multi-media model by Model Scene. It is item 98521.

This small shelter represents a branchline flag stop for a railway or rural bus stop.

The Kit

Model Scene uses a hard wood with very fine wood grain. It resists warping when painted. The grain is in line with the simulated siding of the parts.

Laser cuts of the parts are crisp with thin attachment points.

Not only are the pieces cut with a laser, to ease assembly the laser scribed part numbers on the part sheets.

Detail

Detail is lased into the wood and card. Look at the door; paneling is cut into it and so are HO scale hinges - three of them. Minuscule cutouts are lased into the door frame and into the door facing and extra framing.

One characteristic of structure models of European model makers I never liked are the thick window muntins. Model Scene's are to-scale thin. The window also has a fine casing cut for the exterior.

I am impressed that a full joist structure was cut for the roof.

Instructions

Model makers have told me that producing instruction sheets add a surprising amount of expense. Thus I am very impressed with Model Scene's instruction sheet. It clearly identifies each part and depicts a sequence for assembly.

No painting guidance is provided. While no guidance is provided about painting wood parts, the wood used by Model Scene is excellent and other kits of theirs have not warped after I applied acrylic paint. Excellent!

Conclusion

Model Scene's Country Station is a quality model that should assemble into a sharp and detailed lineside structure. Buildings like this are ubiquitous and the low price should allow modelers to acquire several.
