Introduction:
The MH-6M Little Bird (nicknamed the Killer Egg) and its gunship attack variant AH-6, are light helicopters used for special operations in the United States Army. This agile, unarmed helicopter is outfitted with outboard "benches" designed to ferry up to three commandos on each side. Painted black for nighttime operations, this small aircraft can conduct rapid insertions and extractions of special operations forces into areas its larger brother, the MH-60 Black Hawk, cannot.

Review:
Live Resin recently released 1/35 scale figures depicting US Special Ops Operatives riding the Killer Egg on its outboard benches, all designed to fit AH-6/MH-6 Little Bird model from Kitty Hawk (KH50004). So far the company produced 5 miniatures (plus two pilot figures) and this review covers the MH-6 SOF Helicopter Assault Team Operator strapped to external personnel pods (EPS) - Figure 4 (LRM-35055). The reviews of the other figures in this series can be found on this link: Live Resin reviews on Armorama.

The kit is packed in a hard cardboard box which features two CAD box art images. The images show the figure from several different angles as well as displaying it on the helicopter external pod. The box contains a zip-lock bag with resin pieces, additionally secured with a layer of bubble wrap.

Live Resin figure kits offer modular concept, with the main figure parts and all the equipment pieces supplied separately. No wonder these 1/35 scale figure kits usually have a lot of pieces. I counted 42 parts in this particular kit:

- torso,
- legs,
- right arm,
- left arm,
- head,
- right boot,
- left boot,
- helmet,
- weapon,
- equipment pieces (29x)
- weapon equipment pieces (4x).

Closer inspection reveals a perfect cast of the parts. I found no indication of casting defects of any kind, with some thin flash easily removed using the back of the knife blade. I was impressed with a ton of wonderfully defined details, superbly delivered in resin. The casting blocks are fairly easy to remove, however I would suggest taking extra care when cleaning the thin pieces as these are extremely fragile and do not tolerate manhandling.

Assembly:
Of all the MH-6 SOF Helo Assault Team figures from Live Resin, this one is probably the easiest to build. Yes, the assembly does take some time, but there’s no need to dry fit the arms to the torso, and hands with the weapon to the arms, as with the other miniatures in the series. All the main figure pieces are easy to align and can be fixed with minimum putty work required to make things perfect. The equipment pieces are supplied separately and the modeler can choose which pieces to use. I would suggest checking the references and making a specific loadout. I decided not to go overboard with the equipment for this figure, adding just the things I feel are essential to a Special Ops Operative. Again, I used Magic Sculp in the process, reducing and filling any gaps that might have occurred when fixing the pieces to get the most realistic look to the equipment. Finally, by fixing the head and the helmet, I finished the assembly. Some of the thin pieces (ie. boom microphone or weapon sling) are going to be added once the figure is painted. The finished figure looks really good, depicting the Special Ops Operative perfectly.

Conclusion:
MH-6 SOF Helicopter Assault Team Operator strapped to external personnel pods (EPS) - Figure 4 (LRM-35055) from Live Resin is an impressive 1/35 scale figure kit. The resin pieces are perfectly cast with superbly delivered details. The assembly results in a stunning looking figure which I highly recommend to all those building Kitty Hawk’s MH-6 Little Bird offering.

You wonder how did this addiction start? I was a kid when my dad broght home a 1/72 Concord airplane; we built it together as well as couple of other airplanes after that. This phase was just pure fun: glue, paint, decals in no particular order... everything was finished in a day or two. Then I disc...
