LCVP/LVT Crew

introduction
The LCVP, or Landing Craft, Vehicle & Personnel, and the LVT or Landing Vehicle, Tracked were both used to land men and cargo during and after amphibious assaults. This figure set from Warriors is ostensibly for the LCVP, although the packaging does state that it's suitable for the LVT too. Just make sure it's the LVT (A)1

the figures
The set contains three figures in pale cream resin, all with separate heads. Two of the figures have both arms separate, whilst one has it's right arm already moulded in position. All three figures are moulded wearing helmets and lifejackets.

The quality of the mouldings are good to excellent, just a very fine film of flash evident, mostly between the legs. Some very fine detail is on the figures, for example, the faces are a match for any hornet heads, and exhibit great expression, and the finesse of the cords used to tie the life jackets is superb!

There were quite pronounced seams evident on all three figures that needed to be removed, and the mating surfaces on all the arms needed to be cleaned up also. All the parts were obviously attached to pouring blocks, but these were easily removed and cleaned up. The heads had theirs on the top of their helmets, the best place for them as a quick swipe with some fine wet and dry soon cleaned them up. One of the review figures had a very large air bubble on his foot, but luckily it was on the sole and shouldn't be seen once painted, although of course it has weakened the structure somewhat and care will be needed in handling.

Once the figures had been cleaned up, the arms slipped into place very easily indeed, and left little or no gaps whatsoever. I've assembled and primed the figures, and no filler will be necessary before painting.

in conclusion
A really nice set, nicely posed, and nicely sculpted by Bill Chilstrom, all at a reasonable price. Particulary nice is the complete absence of caricature which I can see in some Warriors figures. Recommended.

My thanks to VLS Corporation for the review sample.
