British Tank Stowage
E.T. Model - WWII British Tank Stowage Bin (Late Version)

by: Kevin Brant [ SGTRAM ]

introduction

British Shermans have always been recognisable by the stowage bin located on the back of the turret and the Firefly for the extra bin on the front or the back of the tank. E.T. Models have now brought us a photoetched kit for adding these stowage bins.

the kit

The package contains one sheet of photo-etched parts, all of which have engraved fold lines where required for ease of folding and construction. All of the detail required for the necessary hinges and bin clasps is included and looks great. A small piece of plastic rod or preferably brass will be needed to finish the hinges. From the instructions it would appear that the hinges could be built to be operable.

The sheet also contains some assorted wrenches and spanners, which could be used to add to an open bin. Last but not least, the single sheet of brass contains 46 rivet/bolt heads for all the detail fanatics, and there will probably be a few left over if the carpet monster doesn’t gobble more than its fair share.

instructions

The set includes one instruction sheet, showing assembly and mounting location of the bins on the tank. There are, however, no instructions showing the folds, but this should not be too difficult to figure out as all the folds look straight forward.

conclusion

Overall the PE sheet from E.T. Models would be a great detail addition to any British Sherman kit. The PE bins would be a great improvement on the plastic moulded bins that come with most kits.
SUMMARY
Highs: - great detail- extra hand tools included
