BRDM Wheels-Russian Type

by: Bryan Gray [ EX-ROYAL ]

The Kit

Hussar Productions have recently released a new set of wheels for the Russian BRDM scout car that is clearly aimed at replacing the rubber wheels in the DML kit. The set arrives packed in Hussar’s now standard card backed ziplock bag. Cast in a cream coloured resin the kit provides a complete replacement set of four wheels in the “Russian” type tread.

Details

Opening the bag you immediately see the detail just pop out at you. The tread and hub details are very prominently cast and look very realistic. As a treat you get full detail on the wheels and hubs including the back side. The wheels are very accurate according to my references and even include the arrows on each wheel to indicate the direction of the wheel as these wheels are directional as on the real vehicle. Casting is up to Hussars high standards and has usual pour stubs as found on most resin products with very minimal flash. I found no air holes whatsoever on any of the wheels and casting was very consistent and sharp.

Conclusions

Overall this is another hit from Hussar productions. The set provides you an accurate and highly detailed replacement for the DML kit and will only serve to enhance your kit. I can fully recommend this set to anyone wanting to bring their BRDM to the next level or wanting to replace the very problematic Rubber tires as they often split over time.
