Parts Bin
Item: RRCB-O-05

Rusty Rail offers a wide range of shop and work area accessories ranging from 1/35 to 1/87 - HO scale. RRCB-O-05 "Parts Bin" allows modelers of 1/35 - 1/48 a detailed shelf brimming with parts to keep their models operating. Rusty Rail has been casting model railroad scale -- and now 1/35 -- buildings, accessories and kits since 2001. These incredibly detailed castings feature many recessed and relief detail, solid and hollow, with amazing undercuts.

RRCB-O-05 Parts Bin
"Parts Bin" is simply packed in a medium plastic bag held shut by a stapled label. It has a small footprint that measures 2 1/4" tall by 1 3/8" wide and 1/4" thick.

It is a wooden cabinet of 24 open bins. The bins are full of all manner of nuts, bolts, screws, pipe unions, gears, gizmos, hummers, Acmes and whatchimikawitz. Up top to warm the heart of any OSHA inspector is a pipe tee, a heavy gear fiercely teetering off the edge, a can, and another can that apparently corroded into collapse by whatever was contained within.

The cabinet appears to have been thrown together by the shop crew out of hefty waste lumber.

The majority of the casting is high-grade. There is no excess resin nor any bubble holes. It appears that everything Rusty Rail intended to reproduce did so (Except maybe the corroded can). This resin is thick and robust. Not hard and brittle, not soft and malleable.

Size & Scale and detail
This bin is versatile. Advertised in Rusty Rail's O scale (1/48) O Cabinets Castings it easily fits into a 1/35 scene. I show it with figures in 1/35 and 1/48. No ladder is included for the 1/48 "wrench" to reach that top gear!

Casting quality is impressive, full of recessed and relief detail and amazing undercut areas! Your reviewer has cast some resin in the past and can not figure out how Rusty Rail managed the opposing undercut items. This mimics cutting-edge high-tech slide molding used by the leading injection molding styrene model manufacturers.

Painting
I primed it light and filled the amazing undercuts with washes. A Lifecolor set for weathering wood and other brands were applied with airbrush and bristle brush.

Conclusion
Your reviewer thinks this model is an excellent addition to any shop area. The level of detailing is excellent. The quality of casting is high.

Whether you are a modeler of military or civil scenes this casting is very versatile.

I had a great deal of fun painting this model and it looks great! I happily recommend it.

I'm a professional pilot with a degree in art. My first model was an AMT semi dump truck. Then Monogram's Lunar Lander right after the lunar landing. Next, Revell's 1/32 Bf-109G...cried havoc and released the dogs of modeling! My interests--if built before 1900, or after 1955, then I proba...
