Excellent progress on this beast, Jeff! Looks like I may need to get one now. It's too bad it doesn't come with the shield though as that would have made it even better. That ref book you have there, is it any good? If I end up getting this thing I may need to get one of those myself...

Good progress!

Rob

Thanks Rob working on the shields as given some diagrams from a great Chinese fellow from HK.

But still working out what is missing.

They are a bear as to size and my first attempt at this scale when you always have done stuff in 1/35 then 1/6 takes time as I try to make things with a 1/35 eye.
Some things to small in size helps to have a figure to check it out.
Book not bad but no diagrams in it.
Still if I could find a kit of The Shields think I would invest in them as that would save time.

Herbert the Germans were the best keepers of records so makes one wonder why they would confuse things, with 20 MM verses 2 CM

Cheers

There is just simply no confusion, 20mm and 2cm are exactly the same type of measurement and weapon.

Excellent work! The shield came out great, as did the rest of your mods and updates. There is another 1/6th scale modeling community that is a great resource group.

There is a portion that has a tutorial on how to fabricate the spent shell cage out of brass and mesh. This upgrade might be of some assistance to this build.

As mentioned above the 20MM and 2CM are both referring to the same gun. The parts that I listed on the post above ([url=http://www.panzerwerk.com/
) were made specifically for hopping up this kit.

I can't wait to see it finished, and when you start the 1/6 scale DML 37mm

Hi

It may be a bit late in your build but Jamie Tainton has some great close up pictures taken at Munster of this gun. He showed them over on planetarmor but has since started his own site, Armour Workshop. You'll have to register to see the pictures but they are well worth going through registration to see the. http://panzerfaust.ca/ArmourWorkshop/index.php

It's under "walkarounds"

Alan

Oh, and Jamie prefers real names when registering or you don't get in

Hi

Here is one example, still left in the thread on a build of this gun on planetarmor. Others are closer and even more detailed. Hope they help.

Credit to Jamie Tainton and his great photography.

If I remember correctly on the "walkabout " thread somebody else posted close ups of one with shields.

WOW, Jeff, that shield came out looking great! The barrel color is also spot on... What color did you use to paint it?

Excellent job!

Just for the record, this weapon used "copper washed" cases ,and the example I have has a blue projectile. The case is also "belted" meaning there is a protruding ring around case above the rim-less area.

do not mind my WIP "Pink Panther", I am very twisted this year ......

I hope this helps out

Great build so far!
This thing looks really good.

I also have an empty 20mm (2cm) shell at home. (the brass-colored thing on the photo)
But this was from a newer german FlaK, painted in dark-green.

greetings... (and merry christmas)

Up date.

Thanks for all the replies ,kind of hard going to such a large scale as thinking in 1/35 scale hurts a little.

Well Merry Christmas to all.

So you say copper washed?

Will look into that.

I have a site where they are pictured if I can find it among the 1200 other sites

Anybody make stencils for the large Ammo boxes or no Stencils on them?

Thanks and enjoy the modeling time.

Yes, I meant the brass-colored (on the model-kit images) and the copper-colored one (on the lower photo).
But mine has a dark green coloring. It was from a modern gun. I have no information about its original type.

greetings...

Glad to be of help Jeff. I thought you had the real thing when I saw the close-up pics of the ammo boxes -- good job on those! That site is a good reference for colored pics -- a forum member passed it on when I was looking for pics of the 1/6 Granatwerfer ammo boxes I was building sometime back. Got me so engrossed that the painting is still WIP. Keep it up. Cheers -- Tat
