Darren Baker shares with us a walk around of the Tiger 1 which is on display at Bovington Tank Museum, and is currently under restoration.

The toolbox is not original.

13
The mesh over the side vents is not original.

41
This is possibly the only German tank at the museum that has its breech correctly painted in ivory.

52
The starter adapter is missing its rod.

David the mesh is most likely the result of health and safety laws in the UK. By toolbox I believe you referring to the turret bin and if so what is wrong with it as I was under the impression this Tiger 1 was about as good as it gets complete.

The toolbox is on the rear wall, over the left track.

Thank you for the clarification David, what is wrong with it?

What is wrong? Broadly, it's not one of the ones manufactured for Tigers to carry, therefore anything could potentially be wrong with it. I believe that it was made up by the museum and that they didn't have access to an original example. The latches are different to German latches, the lid is the wrong height, etc. etc.
It fits in the metal holder (which is original) but that's about as far as its accuracy goes.

David
