How pliable are the springs?

Can they be bent to show an antenna in a tied down position after being attached to the applicable base?

The springs can be bent as normal one.
It is the same set-up as seen on their LAV-III (I used it) and you can play with the spring like hell, they will bend.
You will need a material stiff engought for the aerial to force the bending only on the spring.
