Thank you for putting this together for me Matthew.

I am glad that you like the photos Erik.

There are a few pieces sitting right inside the main gate to the facility that are set up as an outdoor museum type display, so I took pictures of those. There were several other vehicles and things (as you can see in the photos) that I wanted to walk around and get pictures of. I asked one of the soldiers if I could walk around and take some pictures and all he said was..."Yeah, just don't steal anything". That was back in 1997 before the 9-11 incident that made all of the facilities like this one closed off to the public.

No problem Randy (this was an easy one ). Interesting what you said about getting access - I was wondering about the how and why of this photo shoot. You can see the difference between the display items on the plinths, then all that other stuff just parked up on the dirt.

Just a small extra bit of business on this, an additional photo has been added to page 3 of the feature, which according to Randy is "a garbage dumpster and dual latrine made into one portable unit". I must admit I couldn't find another unit like this on the web; perhaps someone somewhere has made a study cataloguing this type of equipment, and if so, maybe there's a specialist publisher willing to put out a monograph on the subject...
