Rob, you may be right. I thought the radiators looked like resin castings and the engine definately looks like resin but the engine may have come from another source just as mine did.

How about a crane variant of the 537? I didn't know about that one!

As often happens, once you find one reference on a new topic you then immediately find others:

Here is a nice piece of MAZ inspiration for a partial scratch-built conversion: A bolster tractor/trailer combination. Notice the unpowered hubs on the two trailer axles. The trailer probably has a telescoping central pole that could extend to keep the trailer attached to the tractor's towing pintle regardless of the length of the load.

Used to haul long pipe sections, logs, large girders or pre-cast concrete beams. For extremely long loads the trailer section could be uncoupled and strapped directly to the load itself.

Also note the massive "headache rack" behind the cab to protect the tractor and driver from sliding loads.

Alberto could you please give us the direct link to the post you are referring too. I cannot seem to find the topic you are calling our attention to amongst that large website.

From the MAZ manual:

If you compare the MiniArt engine to the dashed drawings below taken from the manual I think you will work out most of the main details for the MAZ tractor. One major change from the MiniArt kit is that the air intake manifolds need to be reversed, left to right, to make the intakes face the front of the vehicle.

The only details that you need to salvage from behind the firewall of the T-34 engine are the air cleaner canisters and the starter motor - which now mounts on the engine.





All the items shown in these drawings are provided by the MiniArt T-34 kit with the acception of the front engine mount.
(The four engine mounts cast into the engine block remain but ARE NOT used to mount the engine in the MAZ.)

Forward engine mount:

This yoke mount design allows the vehicle frame to flex without passing this stress onto the engine block.

The two challenges to converting this engine kit for use in the MAZ are:

#1 Construction of the large overdrive casing at the rear of the engine.

#2 Adding the somewhat complex mechanical drive for the four radiator fans (originally six) that comes off this casing.
