Just got the Trumpeter Challenger 2. What is the correct desert colour for this model. When googling, there are various opinions as to the correct desert colour. Thanks

Which Trumpeter kit did you get? The 01522 Enhanced Armor kit, or the 00323 Op Telic kit?

Sorry for the delayed reply. The kit is the Op Telic version.

Thanks, Martin. Just saw your reply. When I get home from work tonight, I’ll look up the info I have for you. This British ‘sand’ color is another of those colors that seem to be a real challenge to get right, but I know I’ve got a mixture of colors that seems, to my eyes at least, to match what I’ve seen in photos, which themselves have a great variety in tones.

Hi Martin,
I'm going to be doing the Husky TSV and the FV432 Bulldog sometime in the future. I have bought AK's RC093 which to my eye is a good macth for British Desert Sand. Also having seen a Husky TSV model recently painted in Mission Models paint I'd say that was a very good match also. MMP-039 British Sand Yellow Modern.

G'day Martin
I've spent A LOT of hours researching this very topic myself, here & also on ML. The info I found suggested that, whilst the MoD declared the colour as Light Stone, there were 2 different tones of that colour across Ops Granby & Telic. OP Granby more closely resembled the WW2 Light Stone whilst Op Telic Light Stone took on more of a yellow tone.
Op Granby is notionally matched to FS30279 whilst Op Telic is notionally matched to FS30260.
FWIW this is the Tamiya/Humbrol mix for Telic vehicles, courtesy of this site:
