Just inspected and purchased this model at Scale Reproductions in Louisville, KY. Great HS, if you read about it on Armorama then Scale Reproductions probably has it. (Unless all six copies are already sold out!)

Special bonus! The kit contains all the necessary parts to build the tanker truck if you choose. I'm told the tank spruce contains some small parts needed for the shop truck do the manufacture basically gives us the tanker with all the shop body sprues thrown in!

As some will already know I am looking to build a Hippo fresh water 20' container and these extra parts will save me considerable construction time!

Not excately, The spruce with the tanker parts does not include the bed for the tanker truck. For the shop van you use the said rails and mirrors for the tanker kit.

You are right about the bed of the tanker but I think I could handle that. However the proportions of the tank itself, I just don't think are going to work for my Hippo. It looks like I am back to the prospect of scratch building the water tank.

Hey guys what is the historical time frame of the K53 shop truck?

Is it WWII or more likely Korean War?

Not definitive but I did find this via google. Would suggest they were used during WWII.

The K-53 version is listed in the September 1943 edition of TM 9-2800 "Standard Military Motor Vehicles" :

Thank you guys but I apologize all in the same sentence as I should have consulted my "Standard Catalog of . . . ." before even asking the question.

Thanks again for the info.

(p.s. You gave me the answer I had hoped to hear - it is usable for WWII !)
