@ Martin
Is the BM-30 in 1/35 or 1/72? Your build to this point -for me- is quite stunning.
I have Trumpeter's Smerch in my stash, and sometime in a future far from now, it will be built.
Hey Alex - it is 1/72.
Thank You

Hi Mark
Thanks! I actually did this with a combination of free-hand airbrushing and using putty as a mask. I started of with the masks, then went over the olive green and gray/yellow colors freehand. The black is brush painted as these were small with tight edges.
Have fun modeling!

Looks nice, Mike. Airbrushed, I assume. Did you use masks, or free-hand it?

So -maybe- here's my starting pic.
Happy modelling

Hi everyone,
@Mike
Yes, in the end it work, but as the saying goes i'm not as smart as it seems...
I'm also looking forward to this model, but i have to wait untill after my birthday. 'Cause it will be a present from my better half (aka SWMBO).
@Martin
After the "Club-M" comes the "Bal-E" which shares many parts with the "Smerch", so i'll follow your build closely.
Greetings
Alex

I've scratchbuild the engine and clutch for my ZIS-151 and I've finished my part of a groupbuild(Luna-M).
I tried the Luna-M rocket on the ZIS-151 chassis.
It is a horrible WHIF, that comes out:

Construction on my ZiS-151 BM-13N is finished:
Scratchbuild engine and clutch housing:

Dryfit:

Sub-assemblies ready for priming/painting:

Some small detail(fuel tank filler caps, frame and bonnet hooks, door handles, driver mirror e.t.c.) will be primed and painted either on sprue or once mounted.

Angel
Your ZiS-151 looks great at the pre-paint stage! So far, it looks like a really clean build.
Have fun modeling

Angel, just goes to show size does not always matter. Can't imagine the Zis staying upright for the full launch of the Luna

Sure Peter!
Imagine a launch, where rocket retainer hooks fail to detach...the ZiS will lift off for sure...

Angel, your build has come together very well, with the scratchbuilt parts and the launch rail assembly. Was that section difficult to put together? It sure looks good. I also got a kick out of you pairing the ZiS-151 chassis with the Luna-M rocket - it does look like the rocket could take the truck into the stratosphere! It‘s interesting how much the size of these launch vehicles and their ordnance increased in a mere 20 years.
Hi Franck, looking forward to your build.

Thanks Jerry,
Building the launch rail assembly was a piece of cake.
As I said earlier- the kit is simply fantastic. It combines-I dare say- the attention to detail of Bronco, the engineering of Tristar and the buildability of Tamiya.
Pure pleasure and really nice looking OOB!

My kit for this campaign:

And where I've got to since I took the above photo:

A pretty nice kit, generally pleased with how it's going. Need to find a way to convincingly prop the bonnet open so the engine can be on display, seems such a shame sealing it up in there.
Cheers,

I have now managed to tone down the rather bright colors on the camo for my TOS-1 to something that more closely matches the photos of TOS-1s in Afghanistan. Here's the various components with most of the weathering done.

Next step is to add a little pigments on the wheels, tracks, etc. followed by a flat coat. After that it is on to detail painting and assembly!
Have fun modeling!
Mike

Wow, Mike. That looks great!
I'm hoping I can get the third color applied to my Type 63 rocket launcher vehicle this weekend...assuming I'm not freezing my butt off in the garage!
