Chieftain Tank kits ...

Am I correct in thinking that there are no small-scale kits of the Chieftain tank at present? I know Airfix produced one in 1/76 scale many years ago, but this is out of production, and almost impossible to source. Matador offer an upgrade set, but this obviously requires a donor kit. It strikes me as odd that such an iconic vehicle has not been released by any of the mainstream companies such as Revell, Dragon and Trumpeter ...

Hi!
Cromwell had Chieftains on offer before...at least 20-25 years ago, when they had reliable service. (Yes, they really were reliable at some time in the past!). I have these from the first days, they did not have so many parts than those of today, but I guess same detail. For example, the running gear was casted complete. Also I do have FV432, FV424 and FV510. If someone is interested, I want to sell them off.

Flames of War have some nice plastic Chieftain tanks in their Team Yankee war game . All sorts of other cold war era Brit armor available , but I can't remember if the game is 15mm or 20mm scale

Officially, FoW is in 15mm scale, about 1/100th.

I wonder if the kits leave little puddles of oil where they leak as well?

Haha.... Chieftains only leaked if your driver forgot to put the engine belly plate back on .... We always knew where all the oil was....sloshing around in the engine bay lol

This is a good time for Btaille Scalers
