With both brands having new Panthers, which one is the better of the two kits?

Haven't got the kits but I think, compared to other kits:

- The Meng will be more difficult to build, but details are nicer and crispier
- The Takom Panthers will be simpler and easier to build, however, the details are quite soft.

So; for the more complex and better detail definition --> Meng.
For the easier build with softer (but still good quality) details --> Takom.

You don't have them, but you offer a detailed opinion on them.. Interesting.

Having built both, I can say that the Meng Panther A is excellent, near perfect fit, and has some lovely fine detail. Red plastic is a bit funny though.

The Takom kit, is the best kit you will ever build. Full interior, incredibly crisp details inside and out. It is unlike any kit Takom have released previously.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sam, that is a great help.

I do have Meng's Tomato Panther which is rather nice, except for the silly colour, and looking at the 3D impressions of the Takom kit, I was hoping that their offering was as good as it looks in the those images.

I compared other kits from Meng and Takom I have build so far...
- How do both brands build
- What's my opinion about details
- What's the ease of construction
- Are instructions in logical order and easy to follow

Don't need identical subjects to make such conclusions..

In this case, it would seem that you do.

That is very helpful. All things being equal, would you give the nod to the Takom kit then?

Sam was right in his first line.

How can you evaluate a kit when you don't even have them to hand. Pure conjecture on your part and a totally worthless statement given you have no physical experience of either kit.

Sam Dwyer is the only person on this thread so far with any qualification to speak regarding the questions asked regarding the kits in question.

Hubert is completely within his rights to have an OPINION on the kits based on his past experience with kits from both companies. Whethet or not his opinion carries any weight with you is a different matter entirely. I have not seen Black Panther but I can field an opinion based on the previous Marvel movies I have seen. Obviously, my opinion would not be as indepth or revealing as the opinion of someone who had seen the movie but that is for others to decide.

I have not built a Meng kit yet, but the Takom kit I have built was plagued by poor fitting parts and some lacking details.

You guys are in the wrong for being so dismissive and rude.

Youre 100% right, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I just happen to base mine on having build both kits, rather than not owning either.

I agree with your position about previous Takom kits, they were challenging to build. Their A is unlike anything previous from them. Please excuse the gaps here and there (hull joins mostly) as the model still comes apart for painting.

And the Meng A:

I build the Takom kit up as I4 'Elna' and the Meng kit up as I1 'Ursula', both from I.Pz.Regt.6, attached to Panzer Lehr. Both these ladies were knocked out on 11 July in Normandy. I built them before they were KO'd.

Im working on the Meng kit right now, using their water slide zimm set.. enjoying every minute of the build too. Ive built every Panther Dragon kit made, both have good and bad points, nothing to really make either 'better' than the other. (I know u didnt mention Dragon, but just for comparison if you have built them)

I have yet to get my hands on a Takom kit,so I cant speak at all for it. Pictures look great ..but you cant tell how the kit actually is until youve handled and built it.

Sure, but an informed one would be much better, and as it seems we are all entitled to an opinion, it's mine regarding his.

Sam, Hilbert said he had not built them yet so that is a qualifying statement. He then said from his past experiences which is also a qualifying statement. Therefore a reader understands his point of view. His final answer may not be correct due to you saying the Takom Panther is like no other kit Takon has done. That makes it an outlier, an oddball.

If a new Tamiya kit came out and Dragons Black Death released the same kit and someone said, based on past experience with both companies that he expects Tamiya to be better, I probably agree. Reality could be different, however a betting man would go with the new Tamiya kit.

I will say thank you for providing a more up to date observation based on your builds. I am a paint the sub assembly first kind of guy so I will be courious to see the finished paint job on the Takom.

Tim, thanks for your observations. I have two Dragon Panthers in the stash and was looking at the Meng to see if there was enough of an improvement to warrant another buy.

I actually have the Meng myself, although I might not pass up a Takom as well if the deal was right. I bought it because I got a really good deal on the working suspension/track set that was too good to pass up.

The red plastic does not impress me, as I would have sprayed a primer coat over most of it anyway.

Yeah I've started on the Rye Field Model panther and it's a great build but it's not a weekend kit. The clear parts paint just fine also if you don't want to use them

A qualification to speak excuse me? Who do you think you are?

It is a pity that you are qualifing this as right or wrong. And I am going to say this to you. You opinion is not right or wrong of what I wrote. But I am right that you are rude to me, cause that is MY opinion.

The same... with kits from one brand or another.. i think this about Takom, that about Meng, base on MY previous experiences! I haven't said one is better then the other right?

But hey, please refer to Sam the god cause he has both kits. Please get a f*cking life and build some models and stop being rude.. troll.

Actually I'm sorry for myself that I even TRIED to post in this topic, cause I knew someone would say something like this cause it is somekind of trending to misbehave.

Shame.

Thank you.

You ought to re read everything I said and see where I was rude in calling you any names, such as a troll, or swore at you and you'll not find anything. I gave my opinion of your response. I didn't call you personally any names or was rude but merely state my opinion of your comments in the context of the question asked. If you can't accept my point of view on what you said that's your problem not mine but I certainly didn't revert to rudeness in name calling or swearing to make my point.

Apperently you don't understand the function of quotes and totally ignorent about your attitude...

respectless.

It appears you like to pass an opinion but not be prepared to have that challenged in any way. I'll quote from someone else's post to you in another thread.

"Hilbert: clearly you don't like what I posted? If it's against the website rules, please show me the rule and I will apologise."
