Have never seen that scale model before. Interesting.

I have seen photos of the palletized vehicle like Frenchy showed us and I always thought it was just being prepared for air shipment. It never occurred to me it was being repaired for air drop!

I believe this one is rather the MZ-66 lubrication truck variant.

Talking about other variants, what about a pontoon truck ?

or a KNS-4UM beacon truck ?

This one is on steroïds

That last "macho" truck also has another alternate design crew cab. Most crew cabs just reuse the standard GAZ front cab doors but this one has a custom made "short" rear door made without the slanted part in the front and the wing window.

Well I sit corrected.

From the perspective angle of that earlier photo I would have sworn the rear door to be rectangular rather than just a copy of the front door. This make more sense anyway as building a custom rectangular door would have been a very unusual (and expensive) thing for a manufacturer to do,

The design of the pontoon bridge trucks appears as though inspired by the look of the Thopters in the most recent "Dune" movie. Interesting.

It seems the GAZ-66 chassis is a very popular base frame for building conversion vehicles. And the "HUMMER" design is a very popular body style for civilian off-road vehicles the world over!

Notice how in building the new body the manufacture still salvages and uses the standard GAZ windshield* assembly and all four side doors!

That's a beautiful, no nonsense truck! (Much better looking than the tall, boxy H3.)

* I really envy them those hinged, opening side vent windows in the windshield. Would really like them on some US vehicle.

Current progress on the 34 - (WIP):
Mostly accomplishing the adding of small details and main body paint this week.

- I cut out the "shifter platform" from the floorboard. (In the photo above you can now see the top of the transmission - at least you can until the shifter platform is reinstalled properly as mounted on the engine/transmission.) On the Trumpeter kit this item is incorrectly molded as part of the cab floor but in reality this piece should stay with the engine and transmission when the cab is tilted forward.

- Also added the "hat channel" stiffener bracing to the back cab wall panel.
- Next up will be the headlights and marker lights as well as the in-cab fire extinguisher mounted to the back wall. Also planning to build a pair of sun visors and the ceiling mounted windshield defroster blower that mounts between the visors. (These last items are NOT included in the Trumpeter kit.)

Mike,
The 34 looks like organic kit - that's a well done conversion,

I wish I could take more credit for doing that other than just the thinking of it in the first place. I went to a translator app I use frequently, typed in what I wanted to say and then copied and paste the result.

I very much appreciate all the helps you have given me on this and other projects.

My pleasure,Mike!

Helping is a both-way's action(sunvisors?!? drain cocks?!?-never thought of them before...).
That's what makes this site-and all modeling buddies(Homo Mutantus, like we call ourselves, here in Sofia),that frequent it- so great in an era, when people speak, read, write and listen less and less...

A photo that unfortunately may be somewhat awkward (uncomfortable) for Angel to look at, bringing back old painful memories:

Anyone have a spare Trumpeter cab and seats they would care to sell? Perhaps you also chose to build a GAZ-34 6x6 and now have left over parts? I don't want to go for the Eastern Express cab as that is a slightly different molding and I already have one left over Trumpeter cab in the stash.

I am getting the itch to do the crew cab version.
