Thanks Peter, I like the type face you used on 1940. Very period appropriate! Please do join us. We get going May 10.

I just finished the book CASE RED and highly recommend it to all who are interested in the battle of France in 1940. This book has definitely given me a deeper understanding of what happened there and of how future battles were influenced by the outcome.

You can get to the sign-up page easily enough by going up to the top nav and hitting the CAMPAIGN button. That will take you to a list of campaigns from which you can select FRANCE 1940.

Still no word on official status or a start date but I feel this is a topic that will interest many folks and should be a lot of fun.
Looking ahead, I have a number of kits that are very appealing. A few years ago I did a Dragon Stug III from this battle. It came out looking very nice and I enjoy looking at it in the display case. For FRANCE 1940 I have in mind a Panhard armored car, an S35 or a Char B1 Bis. Choices, choices!

It looks like we have more than enough builders interested in FRANCE 1940 to apply for a start date. I will request May 10.

Is this one allowed?
You bet! If the figures depict combatants from the battles in Holland, Belgium or France they are in the right spirit.

I’d sign up for that. BEF is one of my favorite research subjects.

I'm in the Middle of a book called Case Red detailing the war fought in Holland, Belgium & especially France starting May 10, 1940 and lasting about six weeks. This volume focuses on the later half of the battle after the British evacuation at Dunkirk. Its a fascinating read and puts a different spin on some things than another excellent book I read a few years ago called Strange Victory did.
The reading is great but really just wets my appetite for some model building. I would like to propose a campaign to start May 10 of this year and run six months to be called FRANCE 1940. It would be for models of figures, vehicles, ships or aircraft used in that campaign by any combatant. This campaign would include Dutch & Belgian subjects as these countries were part of the battle for France but would exclude Norway & Denmark which were separate efforts & worthy of their own campaigns at a later date.
This build would be for fresh construction of models built just for this campaign. A standard start picture would be required along with some pictures showing the project under construction. Pictures of the completed painted model posted to the campaign gallery would be required to be awarded the ribbon.
For a ribbon I thought a simple French tricolor with 1940 right across would tell the story. Any other ideas?
Is anyone interested?
