Hello all,

there are two 1/35 kits available, the Trumpeter and the Zvezda kit. I noticed, the Zvezda kit has a longer bonnet, compared to the Trumpeter kit. Are they different versions with different engines?

Apart from that, which is the more correct one depicting its specific features and which one is better to build?

Many thanks,

Thomas

Which Trumpeter kit are you thinking about? The Ural 375 or the 4320? The main difference is that the 375 had a petrol/gas engine and the 4320 has a diesel engine. This shows as a different hood/bonnet (longer engine)

The Zvezda kit represants an Ural 4320-10 or an even later version, I think. The bonnet is longer and the load area is different. The orignial version had an engine made by KAMAZ later they switched to an engine made by JaMZ. I don't know which one is more accurate but the Trumpeter kit includes pe-parts on the other hand the Zvezda kit comes with a canvas.
I would choose the zvezda kit because of the price and the canvas execpt you want to build an soviet or any pre-1993 truck then the Trumpeter kits is the one to choose.

Robin,

I mean the 4320. I know the difference between the 4320 and the 375D

The (late) version of Ural 4320 by Trumpeter hasn't been released yet. It will be kit number 01072.

I just came by this thread and my question might be a bit OT but here I go. Since maaaaany years I have a 1/35 Ural 4320 kit in my stash (didn't even remembered that I have it) from Revell Germany and I wonder what orginal kit that could be as I don't think RoG has or had an own mould of it. The kit No. is 03050 and on the instruction it says c 2001. What do you think?

Happy modelling!

I am fairly certain that the Revell kit is a re-boxing of the Omega-K kit, also reboxed by ICM and Alanger)

Thanks Robin! Never have heared of that company. I'm no expert on former WP or soviet/russian material. When I build military vehicles it's only NATO stuff, mainly Bundeswehr.

But I'll build that Ural one day, as I've been an army truck driver for most of my service time.

If I remember correctly there was some issue with the distance between the top of the rear wheels and the bottom of the load bed. The engine is true to scale and the outside of the hood/bonnet is at the correct height BUT the plastic part is a lot thicker than the 1:1 scale sheet metal hood so the hood can't be closed if the engine has all the parts on the top, think it was some air-filter/carburator thing. Leave the top parts off the engine until you have dry-fitted it. You can't see the top of the engine with the hood closed anyway ...
