Hi,

Presumably, Panzer (Panther) crew seats were padded leather. But like an old sitting room chair, these would become worn and faded with use.

If anyone has any tips on painting a realistic worn crew seat, i'd be most grateful.

Yes, you're right. Black leather stuffed with horse hair. I usually paint them Vallejo German Black-brown Camo, then dry brush with Vallejo Leather Belt to represent areas on which the black has worn off.

Obviously the leather would also crack, so you could paint some VERY fine lines to represent cracks.

Consider how many years do you have to own a leather seat or sofa before it starts to "fade'or crack' and then ask yourself how long do you think the average German AFV in WW2 lasted before it was abandoned or destroyed?

This "distressed leather" on seats and equipment is artistic licence and nothing more and so, do as little or much as you like or if you want realism, don't do any at all.

In the tank I commanded, in BATUS, and which had been completely overhauled, the seats were fooked after three weeks....

But I take your point.
