I was thinking in the late 1950's, such a vehicle deployed somewhere in Germany with a French crew. Trouble is, how would said crew be dressed then, and would any civilians be allowed to approach the vehicle?

I'd think it would be comparable to other NATO partners training in Germany. Friendly contact with the locals and Manoeuverschaden when needed.
Chars francais has some good pics of uniforms:

Marc directed you to the right site for the info you're looking for.
The French army had good relationship with the locals so yo ucan add some civilians without any problem.

The right denomination of the vehicle is EBR mod1955 or EBR FL10. EBR-10 is pure fantasy from Hobby Boss.
I guess you know the various flaws of this kit. If not feel free to ask, I think I can help

How bad are they? I haven't bought the kit yet, and there's always the AMX-13 instead.

Don't worry Tom. Most of the flaws are easy to fix. From memory, you'll have to move the large cluster light from the front right fender to the rear left one, delete the right side engine stop handle and its protection, use only the hull pioneer tools set (the one on the turret was not used and you'll probably have to scratch the empty brackets). You'll need to check the thermal exchangers at the back of the turret. On the standard EBR they are wrong. On the hull fitted with the FL10 turret they were extended to the rear of the fenders.

Tom,

The Hobby Boss kits are reviewed on Scalemates here:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hobbyboss-82490-ebr-11--155643

and here:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hobbyboss-82489-ebr-10-wheeled-reconnaissance-vehicle--148055

Olivier's site is here:

http://olivier.carneau.free.fr/gb_version/index.htm

which is hugely helpful.

Lastly, if you wish to stress that your model is in Germany then consider using some of the items from this site:

https://www.dio-factory.com/

Good luck with whatever you decide to model.

Thanks for the info! I'll pretty much take anything available from France taking place in the late 1950's. Takom makes most if not all AMX-13 incarnations, and I have their Quickwheel masks. I'm trying to determine which of the AMX-13's would be available in that era.

The Chars Français site also covers AMX 13 and timelines.

Nearly all the models issued by Takom would be suitable depending on the precise timeframe. The only one which was never used by the French army is the AMX 13 /105.

Your best choices would be the AMX 13/75 IDF for an mid service life gun tank, the AMX 13/90 would suit a late AMX 13 but most probably in service with the Mech Inf units and the AMX 13/75 with SS11 which can be built with or without the SS11 launchers.

If I'm correct you can't build an early AMX 13 from any of the Takom models without AM stuff or scratchbuilding.

Thanks, it seems the AMX-13/75 IDF version is the way to go.
