.,. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make such items sit better? I had contemplated making putty ones, but I don't have that sort of skill?.,I have started to make my own backpacks and other soft packs as well because it is way easier to get them to conform. You should give it a try using regular modeling clay first to practice. Not as hard as you might think. If I can do it I'm sure you can as well.
Having said that you may also try sanding flat the part of the pack you want to make contact with the vehicle. Then put a thin layer of putty on that flat surface and trim it to fit all around to blend it in. When it has gotten a bit firmed up, press it onto the vehicle. You may have to trim again but that should do the trick ?

This shows the advantages of making your own. You can hang them anywhere and they will conform. This was before painting the high and lowlights.

,Tree stump’s OK but maybe fill some of the gaps between the roots a bit more, looks like an all-in octopusses fight….octopii ? Whatever, at this super close-up range (which takes no prisoners) it all looks amazing, details off-scale & the figures/poses look ideal
. ,Outstanding G , very cool ground and water elements and the carrier rocks !! Tim's got a point about the Octopus's Garden but I'm sure you're going to dress it up with foliage etc . after all it's still in progress .

As for the tree, it could be me, but there seem to be too many roots ? Ofcourse it depends on the type of tree you try to represent. Do you have an example that you used?
