Are there really no hobby shops in Vegas?

So I moved to Vegas. I cannot even find a shop I can buy paint and glue, much less decent kits. Please tell me I’m missing one somewhere? As of now it looks like my closest shop is Pegasus in Montclair, CALIFORNIA...

Wifey thinks its hilarious I might actually have to build things out of the stash....

I think they define "hobby" a little differently in Vegas....

I have my favourite hobby shop really close, as in two feet in front of my nose.
I can shop whenever I want to, the only drawback is that it takes 8-9 days for the goods to arrive.
A small stash of paint helps a lot and if a build stalls due to lack of paint I can always switch to another

I just saw on a FB post the other day the Hobby Town there is closing down and in the process of liquidating. 4590 W Sahara (west side of the strip if you are new to Vegas, Sahara does run on both sides of it). That was a few days ago so I bet they still have some loot, the post did say they were not answering the phones so you'll have to drop by there and take your chances. Thats the only one I know of in Vegas (used to live there til 2015). I live in Montana, pretty barren up here too, I've tapped out Hobby Lobby of anything of interest and have two local shops that depending on what you are after can be gold mines so a bit more fortunate. I have used Scale Hobbyist and Sprue Brothers with great successfor what its worth...

Hobbytown is the only one I know. If it is still open - there is a website so maybe. Not so good for kits but it sounds like you are covered there!

Hobby Town USA is no more, was there a couple weeks ago and the were closed to prepare for their going out of business sale.

I’ve found stuff at Hobby Lobby and places like that, there is a very small Asian hobby shop down near the Green Valley area, can’t remember name, small selection of kits but tons of Tamiya paints and products

Update, its Hobbyone Japan, 10960 S. Eastern Ave.

THANKS GUYS!

I tried hobby town, theyre closed now, I live right by there, even tried friendly’s hobbies... (now theres an ironically named shop) they looked at me like a leper when I said plastic models....

James thank you so much thats perfect! I’m going there tomorrow. Paint, putty, tools etc is my real weak spot. Never had to worry in OC, just pop into my local shop. Now I dont have red paint for my Chernobyl fire truck....

I love some of the online shops, just cant get my mind around buying paint on the internet, and end up buying sets of paint I dont like, or use.

Sprue Brothers has a wide selection of paint. You can buy it by the bottle, (shipping is a bit pricey that way, at the flat rate price of $8.99) or you can mix and match paints. They have a wide selection of Gunze, Mr. Color and Tamiya, as well as Testors, and many others. I usually buy my paint in in individual bottles, of 6-8 bottles at a time. I don’t buy sets. That way I always have what I need on hand.

I don't live in Vegas but had visited that Hobbytown on Sahara a few times and always bought more than I could carry home and had to ship most of it via the UPS store. They were better stocked than the Hobbytown store here in Indy.

C'mon, everyone knows the only legit hobbies are scrapbooking and needlepoint. Of course they looked at you that way.

If all else fails, might try E(vil)Bay for modelling supplies. Works well for me if time is not a concern for delivery.

Try Amazon, I’ve been using it lately for damn near everything, including paint and other modeling supplies, most of my stuff arrives within days.

Every dollar you send to Jeff Bezos is a dollar an actual hobby shop misses out on, leading to another closure.

Sorry, can't worry about that. For me,the cheaper price balanced with best service gets my dollars period. My dollar isn't going to save an LHS. Even if I had one.Adapt or die.

Not to get on a rant of any kind, but I’ve already given up so much because of the social pandering culture, just kicked the Golden Knights to the curb, wont do it with my modeling, I’m retired and next to hiking and shooting, its all I got left!

And you’re welcome Jamie!

Japan One Hobby is all that's left anymore. It's at Eastern and Sunridge Heights. Good source for Tamiya and Mr Color paints. Lots of Tamiya and Ban Dai kits. Even then, they cannot get stock in a timely fashion.

No LHS near me. However, there is a Hobby Lobby...and I do buy modeling consumables from them. Amazon? Overpriced for pretty much everything plastic related as compared to sources I deal with, and most of those sources are in the USA.

Kinda wondered that myself. If you live in Sin City, I could see the need for a LHS.

On vacation...why?

Bummer about the Vegas Hobby Town but it looked pretty weak when I was there last fall: minimal stock, very little AM and some of it had been on the shelf since my visit the year previous, and the guy working sounded whipped when I asked about business, talking about theft and no sales.
I can't say I'm surprised. I was looking forward to bringing something back, as I normally do.
Keeping in mind the old adage "The only constant is that everything changes", I still make a point of spending something at the three shops I have within a 90 minute drive, and I also spend money with US-based internet houses, Hobby Lobby and the model railroad shop nearby.
This sounds like I spend too much money..... Nah.
