Hello everyone,
I made good progress since start up. So i can show you the first results.
This is what it should be:

And this is the latest state:

More pic's can be found here:
Move it again

The tractor is from VMK , the semi trailer is made by Real Model and the DUKW comes from Italeri. The scale is 1/35.
Some words to the kits:
The autocar is the best resin kit i ever had the pleasure to built. Fantastic casting quality, highly detailed ... Unfortunately this maker is long out of business.
Quite the contrary is the semi trailer. I hoped this kit could be a copy of the old VMK kit. But if this kit is a copy, you won't notice it. What shall i say? Poor casting, air bubles, warping, broken parts, missing parts, a b/w xerox of a "construction sheet" that don't show the location of all parts Without a copy of the construction sheet of VMK's trailer, i whouldn't be able to place all parts.
The DUKW is a good kit to my opinion. But nevertheless it can be enhenced by Eduard's nice pe-set. On some pics you can see exaples.
As a second improvement, the duck got a steering front axle from Resicast. I recommand this part, but to get this part realy work there was some efford needed. The parts are designed to be glued together in a chosen position. To get a workable axle you have to drill vertical holes thru the parts and connect them with wire. The same has to be done with the track rod. The missing skirts for the wheel houses will be scratched.

Happy modelling

Harald that looks fantastic. Are you going to put a figure with it to show just how high and large the tractor unit really is?

I did a similar Federal tractor unit and two axle trailer from Des kits and the tractor was excellent to build and the trail;er a nightmare.

Cheers

Despite what you had to go through to build it, I think this looks to be a fine addition to the campaign. I am really interested to see how this will be finished.

Are you scratching the decals to fit the image, or adding generic numbers?

Looks great Harald, I have the same Autocar U7144T to build (but from DES).
Mine will pull a 10 tons trailer.
I enter in this campaign with an Autocar U8144T ponton truck. You can see pics from my truck on my webshots page and in the campaign file.

I was waiting for the right time to buit a DUKW. To earn a ribbon for it will be the best reason. So it's time to do so.

Time for an update.
I have nearly finnished the DUKW and it is ready to be painted as well as the trailer. But there is still some work left at the Autocar. You know: all that little stuff like gear shifts, mirrors, lamps jerry cans fenders aond so on.

you are really putting some good work into it mate. I think the PE really makes the DUKW stand out.

Oh, oh. I think a feature article will be too much for my english skill. and an On Display? Sounds good, but i haven't still done new pics for the Dragon Wagon from tjhe first campaign.
