Just posted, a review of possibly one of the most anticipated 1/35th scale kits of 2006 - DRA6319 - T34/85 Model 1944. The kit comes under the ''Premium Edition'' label which means that DML has done some considerable reworking of the earlier kit - particularly in areas such as the suspension. Also notable are the amount of ''extras'' including a vast amount of PE - begging the question as to what the AM people are going to do with it... The full review along with many detail images, can be seen:

Jim, I have been anxiously awaiting this kit since it was first announced. Thanks for the great review. When should the kit be released?

Although some see it as a marketing ploy, updating what in retrospect are quite new kits, can only be seen as a company striving to be the best.
Whatever the reason, the modeller wins each time. Nice one Dragon. Great review Jim, thorough text and images!

Hi Jim,

A really well done review...cannot ask for anything better!
And thanks for pointing out the kit errors and omissions…this kit is still one of the best late T-34’s around…. and now, just a bit better!!
I’m hoping to see more T-34 variants from DML in the near future…most notably the all new tooled, T-34/76 STZ.

Will keep you posted.

Best Regards,
Nick Cortese

DML has done it to me again...fortunately, like with the Nashorn, I hadn't yet accumulated much in the way of improvement material for the original #6066 kit except a barrel, so another replacement exercise will take place when this one is released. It will be cheaper to just buy this upgraded kit than it would be to invest in the AM stuff to bring the original up to the same level. :-)

Thanks for the review Jim, will be eagerly awaiting this one's scheduled release.

No, that's not quite right. They were in the original T34/85 Mod. 1944.

Gary, in this I have the advantage - I was actually checking this with one of the designers before I posted the review...Jim

Hi Jim,

Nice review!

I'll definitely get this kit.

Question is: Has Dragon decided to replace the JS-2 (Premium kit) which they've mentioned earlier with this T34?

Cheers
Ken

Fortunately, no. The JS2 (Premium Edition) is going ahead as is a completely retooled T34/76,,
