Painting 3 Types of German WWII Camouflage

The next-easiest camo was the Rauchtarnmuster (photo 17) camo smock. Here we used figure #3 from the Hohenstaufen Division set to paint the camo smock. Actually, this camo was easier to paint since it only had three colors and was sort of like painting Modern US woodland camo.

Step 1: The overall base color for the smock is 893 Dark Green (photo 18).

Step 2: The majority of the camo was this next color. 896 Extra Dark Green was laid down in medium irregular splotches (photo 19).

Step 3: 825 German Camo Pale Brown was laid down in irregular splotches like in step 2, but in fewer splotches (photo 20).

Step 4: As with the first 3 figures, Chocolate Brown was thinned and used to outline the stitches and around the pockets.

Step 5: Once again, I added Chocolate Brown to the base color thinned with water and painted all the deep shadows and creases (photo 21).

Step 6: Sunny Skin Tone was added to the base color and all the tops of the folds and creases where highlighted (photo 22).
