A week in Tuscany with Pegaso

As you may remember; last year our Associate Editor Costas Rodopoulos made a trip to Italy to participate Le Petit Soldat-2005 in Saint Vincent and after the show, he spent a few days in Siena as the guest of Pegaso Family. Costas shared his fantastic Italy adventure with us in Historicus Forma as a main feature. Inspired with his article and getting an invitation to participate Nations Cup which will be first held in Le Petit Soldat-2006; this year, my friend HFM member Ragıp Oy (aka zwan), my wife Figen and I decided to go to Saint Vincent. As Luca Marchetti, owner of Pegaso Models, heard about our trip; he kindly invited us to stay in Siena and have Tuscany tours together for a few days. Pietro Balloni helped us very much to organize our trip and kindly asked all our expectations in e-mails to make a plan of our trip. I can say Pegaso Family pays attention to details for perfection of everything not only metal figures.

Before I started to write this article,I read Costas’s article many times not to write the same things and not to make you bored with repetitions. I decided to write a summary of my trip and tell you some special moments in details which will be more useful and pleasant to know. So please first read " A Visit to the Heart of Pegaso" if you haven’t done this yet.

After 2 hours flight from Istanbul to Rome, 45 minutes train trip from Fiumicino Airport to Tiburtina Station and a 3 hours bus trip watching the natural beauties of Tuscany; we reached Siena. Pietro met us at the bus station and took us to our hotel - Il Ceppo. It was a home-like small hotel with 12 comfortable, well- decorated rooms and a restaurant. The few hotel staff was very kind, helpful and I noticed they are used to host Pegaso guests often. Pietro told Pegaso hosts his guests in this hotel since long years as it is close to Luca’s house, Pegaso store, has a good location with beautiful scene and good quality service. That was really so good for me as a guy who got bored of city life chaos... fresh air, no noise, no traffic and when you open your window you see miles of green fields and medieval castles. The first comment of my wife was to live here forever.
