Forgive my ignorance, but the Sioux were Plains Indians weren't they?

As the DG host of Research forum ; it is my duty and pleasure to answer this question.
The Plains Indians lived in the area from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from Canada to Mexico as shown in the photo below.
The most important tribes were the Sioux, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, and Comanche. More details on Sioux tribe can be found

Thanks for the info.
I am absolutely embarrassed to say out of utter ignorance my only knowledge about Native Americans comes from the old John Wayne movies my father subjected us all to.
My resolution for 2007... learn more about the woodlands and plains tribes of North America.
