Ground TOW 2 weapon system

With the recent release of Tamiya’s “M1046 Humvee TOW Missile Carrier (#35267),” a good article on how to cable the TOW system is a must. Well, with the help of my school manuals, I hope this article comes in handy. Rather than me going on and on explaining what cable goes where, I will just let the pictures do the work. I try to explain a little bit in plain English to you all.

Here is a picture of all the different TOW missiles. Know a basic TOW system firing the “Basic TOW” can not fire the TOW 2B missile, and so forth, but a TOW 2B missile can fire a “Basic TOW.”

This is a break down of what a Ground Mount Tow system comprises of. Of course, the system will be mounted on top of the vehicle, so the tripod will be secured in side the vehicle. Here is a kit part number to actual system part comparison:

Notice the cable that wraps around the left side of the Traversing Unit. This is the cable that attaches to the top of the Night Sight. The connector that is facing stays there and the other connector located right next to the knob on the left get connected to the night sight.

This is the “brains” of the system. The description up above pretty much explains it all, so there isn’t much I can add to it. I can add this though, the connector located bottom left corner of the “Test Display,” is where the “umbilical” cable of the TU (Traversing Unit) is connected. The “umbilical” is located at the bottom of the TU.
