2012 IPMS Nationals: All the Armor

Introductions

Well it's 2013, and I am just getting around to publishing photos of the U.S. IPMS Nationals which took place at DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida, this past year. Having the event at DisneyWorld was certainly a change to past contests. My family and I decided to merge this trip with another planned trip we had been planning to go to the new Harry Potter theme park at Universal's Island of Adventure. It was great fun and we certainly wore out our feet and tried to survive the oppressive heat of Florida in August. Being born in Florida though I have to say... it was awful! Luckily the IPMS portion of the trip all took place in the relative air conditioned comfort of the Contemporary Resort. The show was spread out across two large convention halls, with more rooms scattered about for special events and seminars.

I spent a lot of time in the vendor room as people tend to be a bit more social there. The model hall always seems to have that quasi church-like feel to it and conversations there are muted and sometimes rare. The number of people taking photos or videos seems to increase with each show I visit. I have to imagine there are already a ba-zillion photos published on web sites and Facebook pages since last August. I will add mine to the mix. I managed to take photos of almost all of the armor entries at the show. Not every photo came out well enough to publish however so if you don't see your entry my sometimes poor photography skills are the reason.

Hope you enjoy the 14 PAGES of photos! Just a note, but the photos on this page were taken during the first full day of the show (so not many entries or people had shown up yet).

~ Jim

About Jim Starkweather (staff_Jim)

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...
