It is a moot point as to whether any conflict in history has been as well-documented as Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many books continue to be published covering all aspects of the war and interest in modelling vehicles of the conflict continues to grow apace. With this new book, it is unlikely if the intention of Concord was to break new ground, but it was clearly their intention to publish a book of direct use to modellers....
This new book: 7514 - THUNDER RUN: THE U.S. 3rd INFANTRY DIVISION'S DRIVE TO BAGHDAD Written by Robert W. Burik and Eric R. Olson, SFC, US Army follows the usual format for the 'Mini-Color' series, 48 pages, 195 color photos, 4 color plates, 2 1/35 scale plans. The book covers the battle for Najaf, the penetration of the Karbala Gap, and the Assault on Bagdad itself. The photos (which are the inevitable strengthof the book) were taken by the vehicle crewmen themselves which somehow gives more 'veracity' to the book. The principal focus is on two vehicle types - the M1a1 Abrams and the Bradley I.F.V. although a variety of other combat and ancillary vehicles appear in the many photographs contained in the book. Once again, the strength of many of Concord's publications, is in the quality of the images and in the case of a book such as this, the many details of individual vehicles and their crewmembers...
