Academy has released two new armoured fighting vehicles to see in the New Year which are a King Tiger and a special edition Hetzer.
The new King Tiger from Academy is listed as newly tooled offering and looks pretty good and is packaged with two figures depicting a tank commander and what I believe is a Panzer Grenadier. The model is also supplied with a small photo etched fret containing the engine deck grills and a few other small items including the front hatch latches.

Also new is a special edition Hetzer listed as Hetzer “Prague 1945”, there is very little information available on this release but we will update you if anything comes to light.

I'm always looking forward to another KT from any manufacturer. Getting that out of the way, here is pre-release lady Nos.1, 2, 3 and 4: 1. As with other "late/last" kits, no friggin' fuel vent lines (four, to be exact) modeled or included. 2. It's impossible to make out from the photos if the pilzen locations were relocated; or, if the rear hatch is the simplified version which were found on later production vehicles. 3. One would think that at least ONE kit manufacturer would do its homework when researching. Other than the engine deck latch and the reverse ribbed front fenders, there's nothing about this kit that makes it stand out as a "last production" vehicle. 4. How about releasing a real "last production" version with the triple single link track hangers (with the proper Kgs 73/800/152 single link tracks) on each corner? Otherwise, it looks O.K. Oh, Happy New Year, Darren.

Based on the Hetzer I reviewed, I would guess these are intended for modelers who are of intermediate skill levels and a tighter budget (like me) or those who want a good base to start with for detailing.

My rant won't preclude me from getting one. Or two.

Does anybody know why the M4A4 Sherman with dozer is not around? and will it be back soon? Thanks Rick

well I´ll get one for sure, this new KT at least has what looks like the transport tracks, and it will be cheaper than the Dragon offering. Paul
