New German Tank Crew

MiniArt has a new tank crew in works in 1/35th scale which judging by the fans of German armour should be a very welcome addition to their range.

The latest kit in the works by MiniArt features six tank crew figures in a great selection of uniform. Judging from the assembled figures in the pictures would indicate this kit is not far from release, and I for one look forward to this hitting the market having become a big fan of the MiniArt German tank crew, Winter 1943 - 1945 figure set. Now I know there will be members here who will say not more Germans, but there are a lot of World War Two tanks and armoured vehicles out there that are in need of crews.

I like the Mini-arts offerings. They are relatively cheap. Only drawback is that lots of semi-sculpturing is required to look presentable. The quality of plastic is somewhat too soft and react strangely to the glue.

Hi Well going by the photograph I'd say the four crew members on the tank are a revamp of the old 35003 set, German Tank Crew with different heads, backed up by the change in plastic colour. 35003 set is listed as discontinued on the Miniart site.

To be honest the heads on the old 35003 set were pretty bad and would benefit from swapping with something like Hornet resin so its good they've done some revisions.

Actually the pointing officer depicts a real Panzer Regt commander- I can't remember which one. I remember seeing a photo in German Army Uniforms and Insignia 1933-1945 by Brian L. Davis which of course I can't find right now The jacket he is wearing is custom made from pea pattern waffen SS material

Pat, the officer is Oberstleutnant Adelbert Schulz (pic from Bundesarchiv). Seems like most of the kits poses came from these shots. Cheers, Tat

Thanks Tat for finding the photo. It's interesting that in an army that was so regimented Uniform regulations were ignored by so many.
