Hot on the heels of the R2, Bronco Models is set to release its successor, the R3p.

From Wikipedia: Rheintochter was a German surface-to-air missile developed by Rheinmetall-Borsig during World War II. Its name comes from the mythical Rheintöchter (Rhinemaidens) of Richard Wagner's opera series Der Ring des Nibelungen. Rheintochter was ordered in November 1942 by the German army (Heer). Starting in August 1943, 82 test firings were made. An air-launched version was also designed. The operational version was intended to be fired from a ramp or converted gun mount. The project was cancelled on February 6, 1945.


There were 3 variants of the Rheintochter. Bronco Models kit #CB35075 depicts the last variant, the R3p. The kit boasts of fine details such as in the launch pad, rocket booster, and smoke tube assemblies. Traverse and elevation gears are realistically represented. The kit may be finished either in transport mode or in firing position. Interestingly, as a “what-if” scenario, Bronco Models suggests mounting it on their Versuchsflakwagen 8.8cm Flak auf Sonderfahrgestell (Kit #CB35062), thus finishing the kit on a mobile platform.
