Cyber-Hobby has come up with a monstrous combination for its latest release, a 1/35 scale kit of the German 60cm Mörser.
The 11.37 long monster was known as the Gerät 040 when the original 60cm-diameter short-barreled mortar was fitted. (Three were later modified with a 54cm mortar in an effort to increase the range.)

This kit allows modelers to make any of the six Gerät 040 weapons, which were engaged in such operations as the invasion of the Soviet Union, the battle for Sevastopol and the Warsaw Uprising.

This impressive set also includes six German soldiers that are specially designed to fit this Mörser. Each character, going about his business around the artillery piece, is sharply molded.

This giant 1/35 scale kit of the Karl Gerät 040 mortar comes with two complete chassis. This allows modelers to choose whether to show the mortar in firing mode or in transport mode, since the chassis would be lowered for firing.

Furthermore, this set has a pricing point that modelers will find extremely economical.

A bit of a perplexing release - I suppose they have the molds so why not- but I wonder how many of these large format kits will sell. Not only that, it is a simplified kit that didn't get great reviews when it came out. It's competitors was much better. But hey, the more the merrier I guess. The two chassis are interesting. I wonder is the PE rifling still included? Speaking of reboxes, between Karl and Loki I believe this will be the seventh rebox.

what is this priceing point? considering dragon these days, if it was 20 bucks 3years ago, then its 120 now. so? i wonder if i will ever support dragon again with their policy. havent bought any new dragon kits for 2 years, only stuff from ebay where you safe good 40% only kits I might buy new is figures. But since the set of 3 figs for the price of 4 i stepped back. icm does wonderful figures nowadays

Love that "economical" price point blurb. That usually means anything but affordable.

Dragonusaonline is listing it at $84.99. I don't recall the retail on the first releases, but I paid half that on ebay a few years ago.

That crew are real tarts too. They came with the Schweres Infanterie Geschutze as well and were useless for it. They are pretty long in the tooth also.

The Dragon offering in many places is quite toylike, and the large tub tends to "squish" in the centre. The Trumpeter version has detailing that is better in every way..even the one piece tracks. Dragon's torsion bars are parallel, not offset, and the Trumpeter kit has way more PE. It also comes with the two calibres plus the railcar holders plus a complete rail track. One would be better off getting the old Trumpy version off fleabay etc. I picked up the DML one years ago so I suppose I shall have to build it..😢

I have the Trumpeter Morser; it's my K5 railgun that is Dragon. My Trumpeter came with crew. I don't think they're any better than the ones Dragon includes in theirs.

Bought the Trumpeter offering a few years back and am looking forward to building it as it comes with the rail carriers as well. That'll build BIG when its done!
