ICM has continued to combine model offerings in order to provide something different, This time they have combined two Wehrmacht Off Road Cars from the early war period in 1/35th scale.
The combination on this occasion from ICM consists of a Kfz 1 Horch 108 typ 40 and a Mercedes L1500A. This is a nice combination to use with the recently released ‘Army Group Centre’ offering. This is another of those offerings from ICM where I would like to have seen the driver set included or indeed an all new driver set as ICM has released such a great selection of German soft skins in their time that more than one set would be a great addition for mixing things up. ICM arguably provides the greatest selection of German soft skinned vehicles on the market and I would love to see more figures from them to use directly with these offerings as riders and the like. These two offerings of the Kfz 1 Horch 108 typ 40 and a Mercedes L1500A are a great early war combo that will look good in a suitable setting.

I hope Sprue Bros. will carry this kit and the others like it and not just ICM's aircraft.

Nice set. Don't think that's a Mercedes shown in the pictures ?

I was sure the L1500 was a Mercedes product, who produced it then?

Darren, I hope this helps... Steyr and Horch also made 1500A's. Although, Horch was a limited batch as it was hated by the troops. Steyr later became very prolific and was very popular. Tamiya makes the Steyr 1500A Kfz21 and Kfz70. They also male the older Horch 1500A w/SS combo Kfz69/70 as well. Chris

Nice set, thanks for the heads up Darren. However I have to agree with Alex, that doesn't look like the Merc L1500, which was a replacement along with the Steyr for the Horch type vehicle due to over complication (all wheel drive and steering on the original Horch 40). It looks more like the smaller Stoewer made car, which was also (like the Horch) one of the Schell series standard cars. This was found to be far too complicated to be worth producing and was replaced by the Kubelwagen. More like this: LINK than this: LINK

1500 designates a load capacity 1500A means Allrad (all wheels driven) 1500S means Strasse (road, street) Steyr, Mercedes, Opel (Blitz as 1.5 ton and 3 ton versions) and maybe others made trucks/cars with 1500 load rating and different body work. Kfz. 70 was a role in the organisation that could be fulfilled by vehicles from different manufacturers. It does seem that ICM have confused the vehicle types since what the CAD-images show is a Horch and a Stoewer. Mercedes 1500A Steyr command car, for officers For ordinary troops Truck/Vans The box art says Kfz 1, L1500A, Horch typ 108 and the CAD images show the 108 and a Kfz 1 (Stoewer). Could it be that ICM have not provided an image of the L1500A? They have all three vehicles in their current range ... / Robin

I am sorry for the mistake, but I will say that the mistake has led to a great conversation covering this upcoming release and adding some great information on it; so many news stories come and go without comment this I enjoy. Thank you all.

Ahh ICM only provides images of two of the vehicles so it was a VERY easy mistake to make Cheers / Robin
