Special Hobby have sent details of a new full resin kit in 1:72 of the French ARL-44 heavy tank coming soon in their CMK range.
ARL-44 'The Last French Heavy Tank'
Finely detailed model of the last French heavy tank ARL-44. The model was designed using CAD technology and comes with a sheet of decals offering both real and fictious markings. While there were just 60 of the ARL-44 produced in the immediate post war era and have never had the opportunity to lock horns with the enemy, the type has recently became a computer game star. The ARL-44 had been covertly developed yet during the war, fitted with a 90mm gun and heavily armoured.

Item #MV122 will be available soon - Price: 34.90 Euros

This looks great and appealing and everything, but truly, a plastic kit for just 10-15 quid would be better.

Yeah, it would be nice if the recent trend in 1/35 scale (issuing more obscure vehicles as plastic kits) would carry over to 1/72. There are some real cool tanks in 1/35 I would love to see in 1/72. And as we have seen this could work as a business decision; people do buy other models than Tigers, Shermans and T-34s. We now do have obscure, Hungarian tanks in plastic, and I would love to have experimental heavy tanks (M6, T29, T34, etc), tank destroyers (T92) and all sorts of interwar light tanks in this scale. I guess we have much to thank to World of Tanks... There is a Cromwell Model kit of it already, but it is quite difficult to get. I guess CMK's added value will be accessibility...

THis kit only needs two things as far as I am concerned: offer it in 1/35 and make it in styrene. Interesting beastie.
