Introduction

Wings and Wheels Productions (WWP) will be familiar to many already, they have an excellent range of photographic walkabouts of various vehicles that are both useful to modellers, vehicle enthusiasts and restorers alike. The book is specifically aimed as a photo manual for modellers.

This is a look at one of the recent releases covering U.S. Army Earth Movers. This is Part One suggesting a follow up Part 2 and the subjects covered in the book include Clark dozer, Cletrax, IH T-6, Allis Chalmers HD-15A, CAT D2, CAT D 4, CAT D7, CAT D8, Scraper LeTourneau and CAT Grader No 12.

The book

The book measures just over 9 ½ inches by 9 inches and is finished in a high gloss fashion. Consisting of 155 pages of good quality colour photographs and short texts. So if you like WW2 US engineering vehicles this will certainly be of interest.

The opening texts on page 002 through to page 006 set out the content of the book with each vehicle identified by photograph and name with the relevant page numbers covering that subject; for example IH T-6 pages 20 – 31.

In total 10 subject vehicles are covered as listed above. The quality of the photographs is excellent and each section is supplemented with short texts on the specific vehicle. WWP have included a number of period photographs of the vehicle in wartime use which modellers may find useful also.

Of all the tracked vehicles, engineering vehicles provide some of the most interesting, at least from a personal point of view and offer great modelling possibilities.

Conclusion

Great quality photographs and close up detail of a really interesting range of vehicles/equipment. With a great range of subject vehicles Part One should certainly whet your appetite if you are not already interested in this subject area.

With lots of close up high quality detail pictures and coupled with past and new releases of model kits, builders and vehicle enthusiasts should find this a useful reference.

I like the overall quality of these books and the way they are laid out for easy reference.

About Alan McNeilly (AlanL)
FROM: ENGLAND - EAST ANGLIA, UNITED KINGDOM

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...
